Description:LEVEL: CoordinatorJOB TITLE: Mayors Youth Council &
WeGo Action Team CoordinatorPROGRAM AREA: Youth Action & Advocacy
JOB OBJECTIVES: To coordinate Mayors Youth Council and the WeGo
Youth Action Team, including recruitment, workplan development,
facilitating groups, and coordinating campaigns to reach goals
established by youth leaders within the Mayor's Youth Council and
the WeGo Youth Action Team. Salary Range: $40,000- 45,000K Based on
Education & Experience
Direct ServiceEssential Functions:
- Recruit youth for Mayors Youth Council (MYC) and WeGo Youth
Action Team from high schools and Nashville youth councils.
- Interview and select participants for a diverse MYC and WeGo
Youth Action Team.
- Coordinate, host, and manage MYC leadership committees and
sub-committee meetings; and liaison with the Mayor and other
community leaders to provide opportunity for youth civic
engagement.
- Conduct regular sessions with youth councils and document
participation.
- Support young people in working together to meet established
objectives.
- Assess and provide training and development needs of
participating youth.
- Conduct community outreach, education, and marketing.
- Build community and positive relationships among diverse groups
of youth and adults.
- Document program activities and outcomes in a consistent,
ethical, and timely manner.
- Utilize and integrate riding the bus with MYC and WeGo.
- Provide liaison communication with Oasis and WeGo ,Oasis and
the Mayor's Office, and Oasis and Metro Council.
- Supervise volunteers and interns as needed.
- Provide transportation as needed.
- Participate in agency staff meetings, supervision meetings, and
work of program team.
- Related tasks as assigned.CoordinationEssential Functions:
- Coordinate and connect MYC and WeGo Youth Action Team to agency
mission, goals, and ongoing work.
- Coordinate, host, and manage MYC and WeGo Youth Action
Team.
- Coordinate the collaboration between Oasis and Nashville
WeGo.
- Coordinate the collaboration between Oasis Center and the
Mayor's Office and Metro Council.
- Coordinate the calendar of activities to achieve MYC and WeGo
goals.
- Coordinate special events, including Youth Summits, MLK Day
trainings, Youth Retreats, speaking engagements, and youth dialogue
sessions.
- Coordinate and promote effective youth/adult partnerships
within the community.
- Build and maintain effective collaborative relationships with
diverse community partners.
- Coordinate and communicate with other Oasis program areas.
- Work with Oasis Center development staff to ensure program
sustainability.
AdministrationEssential Functions:
- Provide supervision to youth council participants, interns, and
volunteers.
- Maintain consistent and timely records for inclusion in
relevant funding and other reports.
- Assist in the preparation for monitoring visits by funding
sources.
- Participate in program development activities.
- Represent the program and agency through presentations,
workshops, and other means as necessary.
- Serve on related community committees as requested or
necessary.
