Position: IT Solution Architect - Finance
Location: Fully Remote (U.S. based)Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced IT Solution Architect - Finance with deep expertise in IBM Cognos and financial data systems. This role combines technical leadership and functional insight to design, develop, and maintain scalable reporting solutions-particularly with TM1 cubes. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in owning and enhancing the reporting architecture, leading cross-functional collaboration, and streamlining financial data governance and development processes.Key Responsibilities:

• Lead hands-on development and enhancement of Cognos TM1 cubes, managing internal and vendor teams.
• Drive ownership and design authority for TM1, reducing reliance on external partners.
• Document end-to-end financial reporting processes to support data governance and controls.
• Implement hierarchies, logic, and security in reporting layers for consistency across platforms.
• Develop and manage a software development lifecycle for cube updates.
• Conduct requirements gathering, process mapping, solution design, and fit/gap analyses.
• Design and communicate architectural solutions, timelines, and project plans.
• Support enterprise architecture initiatives and guide cross-functional teams on hierarchy management.
• Balance long-term strategic planning with fast-paced project delivery.Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of hands-on Cognos experience, including versions 8.5, 10+, and Planning Analytics (TM1).
  • Strong skills in Cognos Framework Manager, Report Studio, and Cognos SDK.
  • Advanced SQL and MDX development capabilities.
  • Deep experience designing and managing TM1 cubes, including dimensional modeling, security, and hierarchy management.
  • Familiarity with data integration and visualization using Excel and Cognos Planning Analytics.
  • Experience in BI architecture design and secure report distribution.
  • Proficient with at least one major RDBMS (e.g., MS SQL Server).
  • Strong background in finance or accounting contexts.Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
    • Equivalent experience considered; 3+ years of Cognos-specific experience required.Other Requirements:
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
      • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
      • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
      • Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
