Reports directly to the charge nurse and Clinical Director of the unit. This position works in conjunction with other members of nursing service, ancillary services, physicians, patients, and families. It collaborates with various members of the healthcare team to ensure quality of care across the continuum. Requires the ability to be self-directed and quality focused. Discover what makes us stand out!Benefits: VUMC benefits are available on DAY ONE of employment!Unit details: 2 North30-bed unit in which we care for adult patients who are being treated for chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, pulmonary edema, DVT, PE, COPD, TIA / Stroke, kidney disease, diabetes, sepsis, and other medical issues. Our patients are unique because they have a wide variety of diagnoses, each needing specialized care.Schedule:Full-Time Nights: 6:45 pm - 7:15 amRotating weekends and holidays*Set schedules are not available. Schedules are determined by unit clinical staffing needs.Qualifications:Mandatory: High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) and one of the three below:

• Certification: Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program (the certification is not mandatory, but a certificate of completion is necessary).
• Experience: Minimum of six months of previous experience as a care partner or nursing assistant/technician.
• Education: Current enrollment in a program of professional nursing LPN or RN and successful completion of the first semester of nursing school to include nursing fundamentals.Preferred Qualifications:

  • Obtains vital signs, Intake and Outputs, and daily weights.
  • Reports any abnormal findings to the nurse and/or charge nurse.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, bathing, and toileting.
  • May transcribe physician orders, answers patient call lights and relays messages to staff in a timely manner.
  • May assist physicians with obtaining needed information on patients.
  • Adheres to practices and policies outlined to ensure patient safety and follows infection control standards.TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:
    • Environment of Care (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training working with set up and maintenance of patient exam rooms, supplies and equipment.
    • Care Partner Patient Documentation (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training working with clinical applications for patient documentation.
