As part of the announced acquisition of Eaton Hydraulics, White Drives Motors & Steering will be divested from Danfoss by the end of 3Q 2021 to ensure all regulatory approvals are met. This position is expected to remain with White Drives Motors & Steering. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Danfoss' plans, programs and practices. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Danfoss when the transaction closes, the new owner of White Drive Motors & Steering will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time. The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Leader is responsible for the strategic direction for the EHS systems, in order to promote work environments free of accidents and caring for the environment, while minimizing waste from processes and products, creating added value for the employees, customer and community. This person is a key member of the operations leadership team and is proficient working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, to establish and lead the Hopkinsville EHS program, develop and implement EHS compliance and EHS risk management processes. In addition, this individual is expected to have a deep sense of ownership, ability to identify process improvement opportunities and drive positive change across the organization. This individual should further be able to demonstrate an excellent ability to communicate, manage people and lead/influence teams that do not directly report to the role. Job Responsibilities The EHS Leader is accountable for the development and implementation of strategies, goals, measurements, policies, programs and practices focused on improving the environmental, health and safety programs. Utilizes environmental, health and safety risk assessment tools to identify exposures to health and safety hazards or environmental aspects that can result in harm to people, property, or the environment. Creates and executes action based annual EHS targets and Behavior Based Safety programs to measurably reduce exposure to the site's health and safety risks and environmental impacts. Implements operational controls required to manage exposures identified through the site's risk assessment processes.o Examples include development of equipment-specific lockout/tagout procedures, completion of hot work permits, and management of hazardous wastes. Maintains site-specific compliance assurance processes to facilitate the timely completion of EHS-related compliance, training and preventive maintenance obligations. Facilitates the engagement of employee-directed environmental, health and safety teams (Safety Ambassadors) in ownership of the activities that enable a compliant, incident-free workplace while reducing the site's environmental footprint. Effectively facilitates and conducts employee training as outlined on the site's EHS Compliance Calendar, including make-up training sessions as required. Manage employee certifications and applicable recertification dates. Supports completion of preventive maintenance for EHS-critical equipment and processes and maintains required documentation. Conducts sampling and data collection required to demonstrate compliance with the site's environmental regulatory requirements. Be a change leader and provide assistance and guidance to employees, supervisors and managers in solving work-related problems while partnering with the Plant Manager, Safety Ambassadors and Human Resources Oversees workers' compensation program administrationo Work with all parties to manage and support transitional/light duty and return to work programso Create and implement new processes to minimize worker's compensation claims, close claims as soon as possible and reduce costo Facilitate workers compensation training for site leaders and employees Drives incident and near miss reporting; assist in root cause analysis on incidents and injuries to determine specific actions needed to prevent their recurrence. Prepares technical occupational health and safety regulatory reporting, including OSHA and insurance related issues. Develop and implement appropriate ergonomic programs for office and manufacturing workforce. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience or Master's degree with 7+ years of experience in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline. Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulatory environments Working knowledge of behavior-based safety principles and practices Considerable knowledge of accident prevention and safety equipment Working knowledge of HSE Risk Management loss prevention methods Workers comp, incident management and root cause investigation experience Additional Desired Personal and Working Experience: Working knowledge of hazardous material / dangerous goods regulations Working knowledge of NESC, NFPA, ANSI, NHTSA, NATMI, FDEP etc. EHS-related licenses, certifications and/or membership in EHS professional associations are desired. Knowledge of GRI standards as well as experience/ knowledge of Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Greenhouse Gas emissions calculations and target setting methodology. Certified Office Ergonomics Specialist (COESp) is a plus Manufacturing management experience is a plus Strong interpersonal skills to influence decision making with or without authority, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives, across geographies, and bring teams to agreement. Ability to bring clarity, structure, and actions to ambiguous plans and challenges.
