Job Description Job Description JOB TITLE: Tool and Die Maker-2nd Shift LOCATION: Tennessee ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate. Repairs metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists hand tools. Applies knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, machining, and assembly procedures. Studies specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts. Computes dimensions, plan layouts, and determines assembly methods and sequence of operations for work involving extremely close tolerances. Sets up and operates machine tools and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications. Lifts machine parts manually, uses hoists and positions and secures parts on surface plate of worktable using devices such as vises, V-blocks, and angle plates. Ensures surfaces are smooth using scrapers, abrasive stones, and power grinders. Fits and assembles parts together using hand tools. Verifies dimensions alignments and clearances using measuring instruments. This job description reflects the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this position. QUALIFICATIONS High school level education or equivalent specialized training which may be obtained in vocational courses or on the job. 3 years die repair experience preferred. Requires the ability to verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, and micrometers. Knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, machining, and assembly procedures required. Knowledge of welding fixtures on robotic type welders. Wire EDM or CNC Machining Center experience is a plus. PHYSCIAL DEMANDS Ability to lift 25lbs with or without accommodations. 3:30pm till 2:00am. Monday thru Thursday 10 hours shift, (4) day per week. 40
