Job Summary: The Behavioral HealthNurse / Sitter performs direct patient care within the scope of the LicensedPractical Nurse. In addition, this position is responsible for observingBehavioral Health patients who are assigned monitoring levels 1 or 2. Behavioral Health patients may includepatients who are extremely confused, at risk of inadvertent self-harm, statuspost suicidal ideation, at risk for assaultive behavior, elopement, or maydemonstrate dangerous and unpredictable behavior. You will provide quality BLS, ALS and emergency care to patients required procedures in accordance with established Tennessee Scope of Practice Parameters, Department Protocols and hospital credentialing.You will be responsible for monitoring Behavioral Health patients by camera or direct observation based on assigned level of observation. Your primary responsibility is patient safety with documented checks every 15 minutes. You will participate in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement and maintain cultural/diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and all other customers. Your role promotes a supportive, team-work oriented environment.You must fulfill departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of HMC.
