Job Description:
We are building our Substance Use Prevention & Recovery (SUPR)
Program and have two full-time openings for Co-Occurring
Counselors/Therapists in our SUPR and Outpatient Mental Health
programs: Job Title: Counselor (Bachelor's level) or Therapist
(Master's level) Home Office: Anna IL or Cairo, IL (Must live
within 90 minutes of these locations) Program(s): Behavioral Health
- Outpatient Mental Health Programming helps individuals build life
skills and well-being through behavioral health counseling,
psychiatric care, and other care coordination and support services.
SUPR provides those impacted by substance misuse and their families
with intervention, recovery support, and treatment services that
focus on the unique needs of the individual and the community.
Immediate Supervisor: SUPR Program Manager Hours of Work:
Full-time, 40 hours/week Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree
in Human Services or related field; Master's Degree in Human
Services or related field preferred. Qualifies as a Mental Health
Professional (MHP); qualifies as Qualified Mental Health
Professional (QMHP) is preferred. Certified Alcohol and Drug
Counselor (CADC) eligible and must become certified within two (2)
years of employment. Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of co-occurring
mental health and substance use diagnoses and interventions, family
systems theory, counseling theory, stages of human development,
expectations of professional ethics, assessment tools and testing,
case management processes, community resources and referral
options, crisis intervention process/conflict resolution, drug and
chemical dependencies, addiction process and theories of substance
use and recovery, excellent written and oral communication skills,
excellent computer skills. Special Requirements: Travel to other
sites; maintains a valid driver's license and vehicle liability
insurance; maintain First Aid & CPR certification; at least 21
years of age; must complete required registry clearances and
criminal fingerprint background checks; participates in after-hours
and day call crisis rotation; maintains CADC licensure once
eligible. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Interviews and evaluates consumers, establishes diagnoses.
Develops treatment plan collaboratively with consumers by defining
goals, specific outcomes and time-frames for treatment. Monitors
consumer's behavior.
- Provides counseling and clinical services to consumers
experiencing problems due to their own or another's substance
use.
- Intervenes therapeutically to change attitudes, beliefs and
behaviors of consumers to address concerns related to mental health
diagnosis and to improve individual and family level of
functioning.
- Provides crisis intervention to stabilize consumer's condition
by utilizing short-term crisis intervention techniques and/or
referral to other support services.
- Carries a caseload as assigned by the Substance Use Programs
Coordinator.
- Completes required monthly direct service hours to consumers as
defined on yearly Direct Service Requirement sheet.
- Plans, develops, and facilitates group programs to be used with
consumers.
- Provides and arranges transportation services to consumers
which they translate to their natural environment
- Effectively teaches life-management skills to consumer which
they translate to their natural environment. Salary range: $41,308
