Accounting ManagerJob Summary: We are looking for a knowledgeable Accounting Manager who can lead and motivate accounting staff members and increase department accuracy and efficiency. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Manager will delegate, supervise, and participate in accounting department tasks, oversee the recording, tracking, and reporting of financial information, hire, train, and motivate accounting staff members, develop, and implement department controls and procedures, and ensure that the department operates efficiently without sacrificing accuracy.To succeed as an Accounting Manager, you should be analytical, meticulous, and honest. The ideal Accounting Manager is intrinsically motivated with a high level of initiative and possesses excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as a strong understanding of GAAP accounting and management principles and financial legislation.Duties and Responsibilities:Hire, train, and motivate accounting staff members while supervising and delegating department tasks.Evaluate, develop, and improve department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency.Oversee the daily activities of the accounting department and ensure that all major projects, month-end, and year-end close are completed accurately and on time.Ensure that all accounting processes align with GAAP and current financial legislation (sales and property tax).Analyze financial data and create reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties, such as vendors or lenders.Maintain accurate and complete financial records, review balance sheet reconciliations.Coordinate and complete annual audits.Assist other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a monetary impact on the business.Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statementsParticipate in ad-hoc special projects as requiredRequired Skills/Abilities:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Proven experience as Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor or Finance ManagerExcellent leadership and communication skills.Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles.Exceptional math skills.Proficiency with computers, especially accounting software, and MS Office.High level of efficiency and accuracy.Willingness to comply with all local, state, federal, and company regulations.Attention to detail and the ability to analyze substantial amounts of data.Preferred Education and Experience:BS degree in Accounting or Finance5+ years in a manufacturing environmentCPA with 2+ years in public accounting, Big 4 experience a plusPhysical Demands:Mostly sitting for prolonged periods of time with some standing and walking.Work Environment: Office Setting
