Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Completes tasks, in compliance with ODS, BOS, IATF-16949, ISO-14001 Standards and Customer Specific Requirements
Develops and facilitates AMS Lean Manufacturing and improvement workshops.

Manages plant Six Sigma, Kaizen, AMS and VA/VE tools and techniques.

Provides continuous improvement training to plant staff and team members.

Champions the CIP cultural change across the organization.

Develops annual continuous improvement strategic plan.

Complies with all BOS, ISO/TS-16949 and Customer Specific requirements. Reference the ADIENT BOS Responsibilities Matrix for all requirements related to this job title.

Documents improvement process and shares best practices with other continuous improvement managers and teams.

Prepares detailed plans and project performance measurement tools and assures timely completion and achievement of quality and cost reduction goals.

Develops annual continuous improvement budget.

Develops and manages monthly, quarterly, and annual continuous improvement forecasts and reports monthly performance.

Establishes work standards through accepted time and motion techniques and maintain the work measurement system.

Estimates standards and prepare cost estimates on new products or engineering changes as assigned by the Plant Manager. Justify value of product cost to customer.

Constant analysis of methods and manufacturing processes for improvement, simplification, revision, cost reduction and utilizing Kaizen.

Initiates new and revise existing plant layouts.

Audits current standards for changes and improvements in manufacturing processes and to insure a fair and equitable work measurement program.

Initiates new information and maintain current data in both the process routings and bills of material reports. Audit both as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Instructs manufacturing management and hourly employees in the application of industrial engineering programs.

Investigates methods change, layout revision, and cost reduction recommendations.

Derives and establishes systems of standard time date for measuring entire classes of work.

Develops and initiates means of measuring indirect labor and other non-repetitive work.

Investigates and evaluates designated manufacturing problems, determine most suitable courses of action to remedy conditions and make recommendations to the Plant Manager.

Gathers, compiles and analyzes data and information on manufacturing operations and conduct special studies and projects as directed by the Plant Manager.

Develops and designs jigs and fixtures to improve manufacturing processes.

Participates in safety involvement teams and be constantly aware of safety considerations in all activities.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Safety: Studies, institutes and maintains efficient and safe work practices, procedures, facilities; by coordinating with the Human Relations Department and Manufacturing Engineering Department and keep them abreast of all safety and efficiency requirements in order to maintain an accident-free, high efficiency plant operation.

Participates in the Health, Safety and Environmental program by following all policies, procedures and work instructions that may include safety rules, safety observation audits, regulatory compliance, environmental awareness and audits, and continuous improvement.

Education / Experience / Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.

Three years of related experience in methods, standards and manufacturing processes, preferably in a JIT metal working or related industry preferred.

Experience in Continuous Improvement methodology.

Shows Initiative, candidate does not wait to be told, but anticipates and acts on what needs to be done.

Communication, exhibits verbal and written communication so superiors, peers and especially subordinates. Can understand dealing with customers/Internal & External (Program Managers, QE's, other departments...)

Ability to work well in a team atmosphere. Must be able to work well with others either as the leader of the group or in a subordinate capacity when working with members of management.

Good Decision Maker, when provided the necessary tools, is able to make sound manufacturing decisions. T/L is capable of knowing who to consult when they don't have the required info to make a decision based on available information.
