Description Summary Austin Peay State University's Department of
Health and Human Performance seeks a dynamic leader to serve as the
founding Director of the Master of Athletic Training program
beginning June 2026. The successful candidate will lead all efforts
creating the new Master of Athletic Training (MAT) Program,leading
to successful CAATE accreditation, with the inaugural cohort
launching in Summer 2027. The successful candidate will be brought
in at the Associate or Full Professor level, depending on
experience and qualifications. Job Description The Department of
Health and Human Performance seeks qualified applicants who meet
the criteria at the Associate or Full Professor level who possess a
terminal degree ( Ph.D., DAT, DSc, ScD, or EdD) in athletic
training or related field. The successful candidate is also
expected to be a BOC-certified athletic trainer who is eligible for
licensure in the State of Tennessee. The successful candidate is
expected to lead and maintain the program through the CAATE
accreditation, teach classes, conduct scholarship, advise/mentor
students, and provide service to the University, their profession,
and the community. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Lead the MAT
program through the initial CAATE accreditation and all subsequent
annual reviews, re-accreditations, and other CAATE requirements.
All administrative duties as required by Austin Peay to achieve
program outcomes. Recruit and retain additional program faculty.
Teach courses within the Kinesiology and Health and Human
Performance undergraduate programs and the Master of Athletic
Training graduate program. Conduct research within his/her
discipline. Provide service to the Department, College, and
University Required Qualifications Hold a Ph.D. or equivalent
terminal degree, including but not limited to EdD, DAT, DSc, ScD
from an accredited institution of higher education in athletic
training or a related field. Hold current national BOC
certification as an Athletic Trainer and be in good standing with
the Board of Certification, Inc. Be eligible for and maintain
Tennessee State licensure. Demonstrated experience teaching within
a CAATE-accredited athletic training program. Demonstrated
experience with the CAATE accreditation processes. Have at least
five years of clinical experience in athletic training.
Demonstrated scholarship in athletic training (or related field).
Have at least 5 years of teaching experience in a full-time

Performance (HHP) serves approximately 440 majors in two
undergraduate programs: a B.S. in Kinesiology with two
concentrations and a B.S. in Health and Human Performance with five
concentrations. In addition, HHP has approximately 130 graduate
students across four programs: Master of Healthcare Administration,
Master of Science in Health and Human Performance, Master of Public
Health, and Master of Speech-Language Pathology. The department
